Essential Question for the Unit: How can narratives be used to change others’ opinions?
About the Reading Journal: Reading journals are due at the beginning of the class, during the Do Now. Students are expected to have reading journals out and open to the chapter(s) due during the Do Now in order to get checked off (on time stamps) for that day.
For this journal, there is only one entry due per day - so multiple chapters might be in each entry, but some entries might only have one chapter. Pay close attention to the top of each journal entry page and the reading calendar above.
Points: Each page you can earn: 2 points per box filled out (there are 4 boxes on each page = up to 8 points), half a point per on time stamp for each box (= up to 2 points). Each page can earn up to 10 points total. Since there are 13 entries making this packet worth 130 points! DO NOT LOSE THIS PACKET!!! Bring this packet to class every day. Packets in your locker are not in the class or on time.
QOD (Question of the Day): Every day, you will get a question to focus on for the following day’s discussion. This question should help focus your reading and note-taking in your reading journal.
